There is no plan to reintroduce Rs 1000 currency notes back, according to a report. News agency ANI today quoted sources as saying that the RBI is not considering any such plan.

“RBI is not in consideration of the re-introduction of Rs 1000 note,” ANI quoted official sources as saying.

Rs 1000 notes along with old Rs 500 currency notes were demonetised in 2016. In place of Rs 1000 notes, the government introduced new Rs 2000 notes. New Rs 500 notes were also introduced.

However, the RBI this year decided to withdraw Rs 2000 notes from circulation, giving way to speculations over the re-introduction of Rs 1000 notes.
