More than 6.2 crore Income Tax Returns (ITRs) and around 21 lakh Major Tax Audit Reports (TARs) have been filed till February 10, 2022 on the new e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department.

Of the 6.2 crore ITRs filed for the assessment year 2021-22, 48% ITR-1 (2.97 crore), 9% ITR-2 (56 lakh), 13% ITR-3 (83 lakh), 27% ITR-4 (1.66 crores), ITR-5 (11.3 lakhs), ITR-6 (5.2 lakhs) and ITR-7 (1.41 lakhs).

In the financial year 2021-22, more than 1.91 lakh Form 3CA-3CDs and 17.26 lakh Form 3CB-3CDs have been filed. More than 1.84 lakh other tax audit reports (Form 10B, 29B, 29C, 3CEB, 10CCB, 10BB) have been filed till 10 February 2022.

Income Tax Department has been issuing reminders to the taxpayers through email, SMS and Twitter and has been encouraging the taxpayers and Chartered Accountants not to wait till the last minute and file their TAR/ITR without any delay. . In addition, two new email ids viz., TAR.helpdesk@incometax.gov.in and ITR.helpdesk@incometax.gov.in have been provided to assist the tax return filers for redressal of any grievance related to e-filing. have been done. All taxpayers/tax professionals who have not yet filed their Tax Audit Report or Income Tax Return for Assessment Year 2021-22 are requested to file their TAR/Return immediately to avoid last minute rush .
