India overtakes UK to rank third with 54 unicorns

Unicorn refers to a startup that has a valuation of at least $1 billion. Within a year, 33 startup companies have got ‘Unicorn’ status in India.

The details of unicorn companies have been given in a list released by Hurun Research Institute on Wednesday. India ranks third in this list.

With 54 unicorns, India ranked third on the Hurun Global Unicorn Index 2021. According to the report, released on 22 December, India more than doubled its number of unicorns since last year, overtaking the UK, with 39 unicorns, for the third spot.
