FSSAI Revises SOP for Mandatory Modification of Old Licenses

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), vide notification 15(31) 2020/FoSCoS/ RCD/FSSAIpt9, dated 02nd May, 2022 has issued and published notification and has further revises the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Mandatory Modification of Old Licenses Granted from FLRS Portal. This is in continuation of FSSAI order of even number dated 31″ March 2022.

Key Highlights:

  1. The food authority has issued an order stating that food businesses who have already applied for modification of license before expiry date can now file renewal of their license simultaneously without waiting for the approval of modification application by the authority.
  • FSSAI has come up with revised SOP for mandatory modification of old licenses granted from FLRS portal.
  • In case, an FBO has filed the application for modification of license and subsequently, license has expired they  can file the renewal of its license even after the expiry date as per the terms and conditions laid down in the FSSAI Order number IN(31)2020/FoSCoS/RCD/FSSAIpt4 dated 29” October 2021.
  • According to the said October’ 2021 order, the modification post expiry date can be done with payment of penalties including three times of the existing annual license until 90 days from the date of expiry of license.
  • Additional two times of the existing annual license fee (a total of 5 times) if renewal is filed between 91 and 180th day from the date of expiry of license while no renewal will be allowed post 180 days.
  • The renewal of license is allowed only for a period of one year.
