In a recent statement, FICCI Electric Vehicle Committee Chair Sulajja Firodia Motwani highlighted the need to reduce GST on EV batteries and charging services to make electric vehicles (EVs) more competitive. She proposed lowering the GST on charging services from 18% to 5% and the GST on batteries from 18% to 5%. Motwani also advocated for an enhancement of the PM E-Drive corpus to increase sales and suggested that incentive amounts under the scheme be reviewed due to growing demand. FICCI President Anish Shah noted the current low penetration of electric four-wheelers in India and emphasized the need for significant improvements in this sector.
