EPFO added 14.6 lakh members in December 2021

The retirement fund management body EPFO ​​added 14.6 lakh members on actual basis in December 2021, which is 16.4 per cent more than the same period a year ago.

Provisional data released by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) on Sunday shows that the EPFO ​​had added 12.54 lakh members on actual basis during December 2020.

The Labor Ministry said in its statement that there was an increase of 19.98 percent in the number of customers on actual basis in December 2021 as compared to November 2021.

The provisional estimates of 13.95 lakhs issued in January 2021 were revised to 12.17 lakhs for the members drawn on actual basis in the month of November.

Out of the total 14.60 lakh subscribers added on actual basis in December 2021, 9.11 lakh new members have been enrolled for the first time under the EPF and MP Act, 1952.

The number of members exiting the EPFO ​​has been declining since July 2021, the statement said.

According to the data, maximum enrollment took place in the age group of 22-25 years.

The share of women in the total members added on actual basis in December 2021 has been around 20.52 per cent.
