8th CPC Update: The consultant engagement is continuing, with revised eligibility and age criteria now issued for Senior Consultants, Consultants and Young Professionals.
OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Subject: Partial modification in the guidelines for engagement of Consultants in Eighth Central Pay Commission.
The undersigned is directed to refer to this Commission’s O.M of even no. dated 10.04.2026, inviting the applications for engagement as Consultant in the Commission on contractual basis and to say that the Para 3 and Para 4 of the said guidelines for engagement of Consultants in Eighth Central Pay Commission may be read as under:
Para 3- Eligibility: The Consultants are classified into three(3) Categories. The age limit, experience required and number of vacancies for each of the category is given in the table below:-

- The cut-off date would be 1st August, 2026.
Para 4 – Essential Qualification: The candidates with either of the following qualifications can apply:
(i) Masters or MBA degree in/with Human Resource(HR) / Industrial Relations(IR)/similar subjects;
(ii) LL.B, enrolled with Bar Council/Bar Association with relevant experience in law research or having experience in handling service matters in Tribunals/Courts as an Advocate.
(iii) B.Tech/M.Tech with relevant experience in IT/data analysis/data visualisation etc.
Aptitude for general research, compiling information, collating inputs, and preparing draft notes is desirable. Knowledge and experience of working on excel/spreadsheets and preparing presentations/slide deck is must for all categories of consultants. Candidates who have handled matters related to pay or emoluments structure/compensation package/establishment matters would be given preference.
2. Others terms & conditions of the said guidelines dt. 10.04.2026, will remain the same.
3.
