Coir Board organizes ‘Konkan Coir Mahotsav’ in Sindhudurg to showcase coir products and artisanal talent of Konkan Region

Union Minister for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Shri Narayan Rane inaugurated a “Konkan Coir Mahotsav” at Kudal in Sindhudurg. The exhibition is being organized by Coir Board and it will run till 28th February, 2022.

The Konkan Coir Mahotsav will showcase the abilities of the artisans in the Konkan Region and from all over India. Coir Board is also showcasing various products, its applications and machineries in the exhibition.  Coir Board is also organizing workshop, seminars, exposure tours, entrepreneurship development programmes during the period to make more awareness about coir industry in this region.

Earlier today, the Minister inaugurated MSME Conclave which is being organized by the Ministry of MSME in Sindhudurg. The Conclave aims to promote entrepreneurship and trade opportunities for MSMEs in the Konkan region by handholding them in use of technology, product development and skilling.

Coir Board was set up under the Coir Industry Act, 1953 by the Government of India for the overall sustainable development of Coir Industry in the Country.  The functions of the Board as laid down under the Act include undertaking, assisting and encouraging scientific, technological and economic research, modernization, quality improvement, human resource development, market promotion and welfare of all those who are engaged in this industry.
