CBI: Four Years Rigorous Imprisonment To Former Chief Minister Of Haryana

The Special Judge for CBI cases, New Delhi has today sentenced Sh. Om Prakash Chautala, then Chief Minister of Haryana to undergo four years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 50 lakh for possessing disproportionate assets.

A case was registered on 03.04.2006 against Sh. Om Prakash Chautala & others on the allegations that while functioning as Chief Minister of Haryana during the period 24.07.1999 to 05.03.2005, in collusion with his family members & others, had accumulated assets, immovable & movable, disproportionate to his known sources of income, in his name and in the name of his family members & others.

After investigation, chargesheet was filed on 26.03.2010 against the accused. The extent of Disproportionate Assets was around Rs. 6,09,79,026/- i.e. (189.11%) of his income.

The Trial Court found the accused guilty for possessing Disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs. 2.81 crore (103%) and convicted him on 21.05.2022. After arguments on the quantum of sentence, the Court pronounced the same today (27th May 2022).
