Budget 2025: Nirmala Sitharaman to present eighth speech, focus on women & middle class
In just a few hours, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present her eighth consecutive Budget in Parliament, setting a new record. This year’s Budget is expected to focus on key groups—women, the poor, and the middle class—following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks at the start of the session.
One of the biggest concerns is whether the government will provide tax relief to boost spending. Many are hoping for tax benefits, especially for individuals earning between ₹10 lakh and ₹25 lakh per year.
However, Chief Economic Adviser V Anantha Nageswaran believes the slowdown in consumption is not a major structural issue. He suggests that the private sector should play a bigger role in driving demand by increasing wages and creating more jobs.
With high expectations, all eyes are now on the Finance Minister to see if the government will introduce measures to ease the burden on taxpayers and stimulate the economy.
