There is good news for central government employees and pensioners.  An increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) of central employees may be announced soon.  Along with this, a big announcement can also be made on their outstanding DA of 18 months.  If this happens, then up to Rs 2 lakh can come in the account of government employees.  This will benefit more than one crore central employees and pensioners.

The Central Government has not paid DA (Dearness Allowance) to its employees for 18 months i.e. between January 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021.  Employees have been demanding its payment for a long time.  According to media reports, the government can take a decision on this soon.  After this, one-time dearness allowance can be paid to central employees.

There will be benefit of up to lakh
If the Modi government decides on the payment of arrears of allowances to the employees, then the central employees are expected to benefit up to Rs 2 lakh.  The DA arrears of Level-1 employees ranges from Rs 11880 to Rs 37554.  Similarly, Level-13 and Level-14 employees can get Rs 144200 to Rs 218200 as DA arrears.

Several rounds of talks have been held between the Ministry of Finance, National Council of Joint Consultative Machinery and Department of Personnel and Training in this regard.  But no decision has been taken till now.  It is believed that in the next few days, the matter can be discussed with the Cabinet Secretary.  Along with this, the Pensioners Forum of India has also written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the arrears payment.

DA may increase by three percent
The DA of central government employees is updated twice a year between January and July.  DA is calculated by multiplying the current rate of dearness allowance with the basic pay.  DA is given to government employees and public sector employees and pensioners.  It is given to the employees to help them with their living expenses.  This time the DA may increase by three percent.

According to experts, this time dearness allowance can be increased by three percent.  If this happens, then the total DA of central employees may increase from 31 per cent to 34 per cent.  If this happens, now the dearness allowance on the basic salary of Rs 18,000 will be Rs 6,120.  Similarly, the DA of employees with maximum salary slab will increase to Rs 19346 per month.
