Loop Telecom has got a big setback from the Supreme Court. In fact, the court has dismissed his plea for refund of Rs 1,454 crore paid as license fee for unified access license and 2G spectrum and Rs 1,000 crore for reputation damage after its cancellation.
It is worth mentioning that this whole matter is of the year 2008. A bench headed by Justice DY Chandrachud gave this decision. According to the report, the Supreme Court has held that the company cannot seek refund in view of the Supreme Court’s earlier judgment cancelling the 2G spectrum allocation. In fact, the Supreme Court cancelled the 21, 2G spectrum license of Loop Telecom. Subsequently, the company had sought refund of Rs 1,454.94 crore made to the DoT as license fee for grant of Unified Access License (UAS) in these 21 service areas. The company had filed a petition in the Supreme Court in this regard.
