Rajasthan ACB Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) took major action in Udaipur on Tuesday. ACB arrested Joint Commissioner of Commercial Tax Department while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 8 lakh.
Bribe was demanded in exchange for not taking action
ACB Director General Ravi Prakash Meharda said that the complainant had said that the accused officer had demanded bribe in exchange for not taking any action on the GST survey report of his resort.
Arrested red handed
After verifying the complaint, the ACB team arrested Joint Commissioner Ravindra Jain red handed while accepting bribe from the complainant in Udaipur on Tuesday. The accused officer has been arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the matter is being further investigated.
Now ACB is searching the bank accounts of Ravindra Jain. This action was taken under the leadership of ACB CI Sanu Shekhawat. Search operations are being conducted at the house and other locations of GST Joint Director Ravindra Jain who has been trapped in the case.
The role of other officials is also being investigated in this case. Interrogation of the accused and action is going on under the direction of ACB’s Additional Director General of Police Smita Shrivastava. ACB will register a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and conduct further investigation.
