Jamshedpur: Sarvjit Singh, an auto parts businessman, has been sentenced to one year of simple imprisonment by the court of First Class Judicial Magistrate Siddhant Tigga on charges of cheque bounce under the Negotiable Instruments (NI) Act. The court has also ordered Singh to pay a compensation of five lakh rupees, which includes the cheque amount.
The case was initiated by Prashant Khirwal, the owner of Prashant Auto located at Dimna Chowk. Khirwal alleged that Singh had purchased auto parts worth Rs 4,55,821 from his shop and issued a cheque from SBI as payment. However, the cheque bounced due to insufficient funds in Singh’s account.
