It is being told that in the month of March, Narendra Modi’s government can announce an increase in dearness allowance (DA Hike) of central employees.

3% DA set to increase

Sources say that for January 2022, the government will announce dearness allowance, in which 3 percent DA is set to increase. AICPI figures for December 2021 have been released recently. After this it has become clear that there will be a 3 percent increase in dearness allowance. That is, now the dearness allowance of the employees will increase from 31 percent to 34 percent. This will also affect their salary. That is, the salary will also increase.

Good news will be available before Holi

It is being told that the central government employees will start getting the benefit of increase in dearness allowance around Holi. According to the Labor Ministry, there has been an increase in the Industrial Inflation Index All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (AI CPI-IW) in December 2021. With this it has increased to 125.4. Therefore, the DA of the employees is set to increase from 31 per cent to 34 per cent.

DA changes every 6 months

In order to improve the standard of living and food of the employees, all the governments give dearness allowance to their employees. This allowance is available to government employees, pensioners and public sector employees. Usually DA is revised once in 6 months. Dearness Allowance is changed in the month of January and July.

DA was started during the Second World War

The dearness allowance was started during the Second World War. Then the soldiers used to get this money apart from the salary for food and other facilities. In those days the name of this allowance was Food Dearness Allowance or Dearness Food Allowance. Dearness allowance was first started in India in the year 1972 in Mumbai. After this, the central government started giving dearness allowance to all government employees.

DA is different

On the basis of the salary of the employees, dearness allowance is given to them. Dearness allowance is different for government employees working in urban, semi-urban and rural areas. It is calculated on the basic pay. There is a formula for calculating dearness allowance, which is linked to the consumer price index or CPI.

The math of increase of 90 thousand rupees in salary

If the central government increases the dearness allowance of its employees by 3 percent, then the employees will get a big relief. If the basic salary of the employee is Rs 30,000, then his salary will increase by Rs 900 per month. In this way, he will get a profit of Rs 10,800 in the year. There will be an increase of Rs 7,500 in the salary of the officers of the rank of Cabinet Secretary. The maximum basic salary is Rs 2.5 lakh. Such people will get the benefit of 90 thousand rupees in a year only by increasing DA.
