Competition Commission of India (CCI) suspended approval for Amazon investments in Future Coupons. The Indian watchdog also imposed a whopping Rs 200 crore penalty on US retail giant. The CCI was hearing a complaint by Future Coupon seeking revocation of nod to Amazon’s investment in the group.
In a 57-page order, the CCI said it considers “it necessary to examine the combination (deal) afresh,” adding its approval from 2019 shall “shall remain in abeyance” until then.
