CBI arrests absconding branch post master in post office savings fraud case Did
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested absconding accused Smt. Shabda Swain, then Branch Post Master, Bonda, Odisha from Bargarh, Odisha today i.e. on 27.08.2026 in the Post Office Savings Fraud case.
The accused embezzled ₹13,98,232 collected from depositors while serving as the Branch Post Master of the Bonda Post Office between 2008 and 2014. She made fraudulent entries in passbooks and failed to account for the deposits in official records. The accused has been absconding since the framing of charges in CBI, ACB, Bhubaneswar case number RC 17(A)/2014-BBS on December 31, 2015. A non-bailable warrant was issued against her in 2022.
Following sustained and tireless efforts by the CBI, the absconding accused was arrested today while attending a family function in Bargarh, Odisha. He is being produced before the competent court in Bhubaneswar.
