Arunachal Pradesh: ‘Parshuram Kund’ pilgrimage begins

Parshuram Kund’

In Arunachal Pradesh, the Parshuram Kund pilgrimage in Lohit District, held on the occasion of Makar Sankranti every year, started. Devotees from across the country visit the sacred place to take a holy dip in the Kund on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic,  this time the days of pilgrimage have also been reduced to five days from 10 days.

District Information and Public Information Officer, (In-Charge) Toimi Tagi, has informed that in order to prevent any chance of COVID-19 infection during the pilgrimage proper arrangements have been put in place.

She informed that not more than 1,000 devotees will be allowed per day at the Kund area for worshipping and holy dip. Provision of Rapid Antigen Test at the entry point at Medo Check Gate has also been made for tourists and pilgrims from outside the state. Parshuram Kund, nestled in the lower reaches of Lohit River is of great significance for the Hindus. According to Hindu Mythology, Sage Parshuram after beheading his mother washed away all his sins in the so-called Brahma Kund.
