Indian mobile phone company Lava aims to capture a 35% market share for entry-level 4G feature phones within a year, up from its current 26%. Lava, known for its budget keypad phones, also plans to expand its presence in the budget smartphone market. The company intends to achieve over 10% market share in smartphones priced under 30,000 rupees within the next two years, with all its smartphones becoming 5G capable. Despite the trend towards premium smartphones in India, Lava is strategically focusing on affordability. Additionally, the company has shifted its design and manufacturing operations from China to India and is considering a future IPO as it continues to develop its smartphone business.
