Swiggy is facing tax demands totaling over Rs 165 crore related to the financial year 2021-22. One demand, for Rs 7.59 crore from the Pune Profession Tax Officer, alleges incorrect profession tax deductions from employee salaries under the Maharashtra State Tax Act. Swiggy intends to challenge this order. A second assessment order demands Rs 158 crore, citing disallowed cancellation charges paid to merchants under Section 37 of the Income-tax Act, 1961, and undeclared interest income from tax refunds. Swiggy plans to appeal this order as well and believes neither issue will significantly impact its financial standing or operations.
