The date of filing Income Tax is approaching. If you have not yet filed Income Tax Return (ITR), then 31st March 2022 is the last date for it. That is, till this period, you can file a return with fine. If you have filed ITR and the refund has not come till now, then there can be many reasons for this.

With the advent of the new website of the Income Tax Department, filing income tax returns has become very easy and paperless. It is always advised to the taxpayers to file ITR on time because the sooner you file your income tax return, the sooner you will get the return. Technical issue: Due to various technical issues on the new portal of Income Tax, there is a delay in getting the returns. This may be one of the reasons for not getting your return.

Additional Documents: A major reason for the delay in getting the refund can be additional documents. In such a situation, to solve this problem, contact the concerned officer through telephone or post and submit the necessary documents.

Non-verification of Income Tax Return: Verification is also one of the reasons for non-receipt of refund. If your ITR is not verified within the stipulated time frame, then it will be considered invalid. Under the Income Tax Act, 1961, ITRs that are not verified become invalid.

Bank related information: Even if there is a change in the bank details, even then there may be a delay in getting your refund. If the information like mobile number and e-mail of your primary account will continue to be received from the new account, then only the account will be valid. If the information has been changed then a warning will appear on the portal.

Login to the Income Tax Portal using User ID Password.

-Go to My Account and click on ‘Refund/Demand Status’.

All the information will come in front of you. If the refund has not been done, then you can check the status immediately by going to ‘Reason’.
