The Income Tax Department has refunded more than Rs 1.82 lakh crore to more than 2.07 crore taxpayers in the current financial year (2021-22) till February 21, 2022. This figure is for refunds made between April 1, 2021 and February 21, 2022. Of this, the personal income tax refund was Rs 65,498 crore, while the corporate tax refund was Rs 1,17,498 crore.
The Income Tax Department tweeted, “CBDT has refunded more than Rs 1,82,995 crore to more than 2.07 crore taxpayers between April 1, 2021 to February 21, 2022. An income tax refund of Rs 65,498 crore has been issued in 2,04,44,820 cases and a corporate tax refund of Rs 1,17,498 crore has been issued in 2,30,112 cases.
Check refund status from the new website of Income Tax Department-
If your income tax refund was to come, then you can check its status online. The status can be checked through the Income Tax e-filing portal or through the website of NSDL.
First of all you have to go to the website http://www.incometax.gov.in.
Enter User ID and Password.
After login, you will see the option of e-filing.
Now you select Income Tax Returns
After that click on View File Return.
Now the details of your ITR will be shown.
These could be the reasons for getting refund stuck
One of the major reasons in cases of income tax refund getting stuck can be a mistake in the bank account details. If you have entered your account details wrong while filling the form, then because of this your income tax refund may get stuck. In such a situation, you will have to correct the account details on the website of the Income Tax Department.
