To make the tax system more effective, transparent and easy for taxpayers, CBDT has prepared its action plan. According to exclusive information received by CNBC TV18, CBDT has prepared a detailed Central Action Plan for the financial year 2024-25. The goal of this action plan is to make the tax system easier for taxpayers as well as more effective and transparent than before. According to this, policies should be made accordingly keeping economic growth and fiscal stability in mind. Along with this, the goal of this action plan is also to prepare a roadmap for the Income Tax Department for 2047.
What is special in the action plan- The proposals given in the action plan include initiatives to enhance tax administration, steps to increase revenue collection, reduce arrears demand and improve taxpayer services. Apart from this, strict timelines have been proposed for achieving budget targets, reducing arrears demand, managing court cases, standards for providing services and redressal of grievances.
The action plan proposes to move forward by setting targets for managing tax demands, focusing on the top 5,000 arrears cases, which account for 60 per cent of the total demand of Rs 43 lakh crore, and creating a special team in each jurisdiction to analyse these cases.
