Man’s Fake Income Tax Officer Act Exposed in Kanpur
In a bizarre turn of events, a young man from Kanpur indulged in an elaborate ruse, deceiving his own family into believing that he had secured a prestigious position as an Income Tax officer. This led to a sequence of events including a ritualistic feast and the man going to great lengths to maintain the charade.
The individual, identified as Ritesh Sharma, meticulously fabricated details of his employment, maintaining a daily routine of leaving the house dressed for work, only to return in the evening. However, after approximately eight months, his deception came to a crashing halt when he was apprehended by the police during a routine inspection.
Upon being confronted, Ritesh initially attempted to intimidate the authorities by presenting a counterfeit ID card, but ultimately succumbed to the scrutiny of law enforcement. Subsequent investigations culminated in his incarceration.
According to ACP Abhishek Pandey, the young man’s deceit was uncovered during a late-night inspection, when a vehicle adorned with an Income Tax Department’s insignia piqued the interest of the police. Upon stopping the vehicle, Ritesh Sharma, hailing from Mahavirpuram, emerged and brazenly proclaimed himself as an Income Tax officer, only to be swiftly exposed and detained by the police.
Remarkably, Ritesh Sharma’s father, Rajendra Nath Sharma, had been misled about his son’s purported employment, as the young man falsely informed him of his induction into the Income Tax Department. This misinformation led to extravagant gestures, including a lavish ritual and a feast to celebrate his “success”.
It was disclosed that Ritesh Sharma, post-graduation, had been aspiring for a position through the SSC, and resorted to fabricating the job to appease his family amidst his unsuccessful job hunt. This charade not only deceived his immediate family, but also garnered marriage proposals from families under false pretenses.
This incident serves as a cautionary tale, shedding light on the potential ramifications of falsehoods and the repercussions of desperate measures in the pursuit of societal approval and familial validation.
