According to information received from sources by ‘Hindustan’, in the meeting of the GST Council, it is possible for the businessmen to announce the waiver of late fee by extending the deadline for filing returns. Under this, the deadline for filing GSTR-4 for the composition dealers for the financial year 2022 can be extended till the end of July.
Right now this deadline is June 30. The council can also waive the late fee on this. Apart from this, the existing deadline of July 18 for filing returns for the first quarter of FY 2023 for composition dealers can also be extended till July 30. The Group of Ministers on Casinos, Online Gaming, meeting last month, had agreed to keep it in the tax bracket of 28 per cent instead of 18.

The meeting of the GST Council is to be held in Chandigarh on June 28 and 29 under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. On June 27, a meeting of state and central officials will be held. According to sources, the rates of GST applicable on more than a dozen items can be reviewed in that meeting of the officials.
