GST fraud case: Rs 11.9 crore ITC embezzled, accused arrested

Massive GST Fraud Worth Rs. 11.9 Crore Exposed!

On September 13, 2025 (Saturday), a man from Ambur was arrested by the GST Chennai Outer Commissionerate for orchestrating a fraudulent Input Tax Credit (ITC) racket worth ₹11.90 crore.

According to GST officials, the accused had arranged multiple GST registrations using false documents and addresses. An official remarked, “He created dummy firms that issued fraudulent tax invoices without any genuine transactions.” These invoices were subsequently exploited by various firms to falsely claim input tax credits (ITC), with the accused collecting commissions from the beneficiaries.

Officials have reported that the fraudulent input tax credit involved a staggering ₹11.90 crore, associated with an invoice value of ₹238 crore. Furthermore, all businesses that availed themselves of these fraudulent credits have been identified, and necessary actions will be taken against them.
