GST Evasion Scam Busted by Central Goods and Services Tax Ahmedabad-North Commissionerate

The Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Ahmedabad-North Commissionerate has successfully uncovered a significant GST evasion scam involving a partnership firm named Gayatri Abrasive. The firm is accused of selling goods worth a staggering Rs 37 crore without issuing proper bills, leading to a staggering GST evasion of Rs 7.07 crore.

The investigation began with a thorough search of Gayatri Abrasive’s premises on February 19. During this operation, tax officials discovered electronic records pertaining to unaccounted clearances of various goods, including grindstones and hand tools, dating back to the fiscal year 2021-22.

Authorities have arrested the main accused in this case, who has since been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody. Further inquiries revealed that one of the partners of the firm was apprehended after he confessed to being involved in the tax evasion scheme.

The CGST department continues to probe deeper into the operation, seeking to bring all involved parties to justice. This case highlights the ongoing efforts of tax authorities to combat GST evasion and ensure compliance within the industry.
