
50th GST Council meeting on 11 July, 2023 – Agenda (Tentative)
The 50th GST Council meeting, led by the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, will be held on 11 July at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The last, 49th GST Council meeting, was held on 18th February 2023 at New Delhi.
Tentative items for the discussion at the meetings:
- Measures to tighten the noose on fake registration and fraudulent generation of input tax credit (ITC).
- Setting up of the GST Appellate Tribunals (GSTATs)
- GST on Casinos, Online Gaming, and Horse Racing
- Matter related to Group of Ministers (GoM) on rate rationalization.
- Amendments to the GST Law to Factor in the Latest e-Invoicing Timelines
- Automation of GST Return Scrutiny and Expansion of the Taxpayer Base
- A GST fitment panel
- Inverted Duty Structure (IDS) on Textiles
- Other previous pending matters and GST procedural changes.
- Proposal to introduce additional validations in the GST return filing system to check evasion and fake input tax credit (ITC) claims.
The council is expected to discuss measures to tighten tax evasion and fraud, the GoM report on online gaming, and the establishment of GST Appellate Tribunals
