Farmers Producer Organization (FPO) will help in New Avenues of Development and Employment in the country: Agriculture Minister

According to Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, 10,000 new FPOs will be made from 2019-20 to 2023-24.

Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar addressed a meeting of Small Scale Industries Bharti and Sahakar Bharti through video conferencing in which Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Purushottam Rupala and Kailash Chaudhary and Union Minister of State for Water Resources Arjun Meghwal were also present. Union Minister Tomar said that initially the minimum number of members in FPO will be 300 in Terai region and 100 in North-East and hilly areas.

He said that with the formation of 10,000 new Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs), new avenues of development will open in the country. Through these FPOs, the rural economy will be strengthened, which will not only help in the progress of agriculture, but will also open new avenues of development in the country. FPO will help in reducing production cost and marketing cost, as well as the scheme will also help in improving productivity in agriculture and horticulture sector.

What is FPO

The FPO ie Farmers Producer Organization (Farmer Producer Company) will be a group of farmers, engaged in agricultural production and carrying out commercial activities related to agriculture. By creating a group, you can get registered in the Companies Act.
