Budget 2022: Government Should Take Effective Steps To Promote Employment

According to news agency PTI, just before the general budget, industry body CII said that additional rates of incentive should also be added on the basis of employment created in the production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes in the budget. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has suggested that sectors such as leather and food processing, which provide employment in large numbers, should be brought under the purview of the incentive scheme to attract investment and generate new employment.

CII’s suggestions to create new employment opportunities

CII Director General said in a statement that in order to create new employment opportunities in the country which is recovering from the pandemic, it is our suggestion that the aspect of job-creation should also be added within the incentive schemes in the budget. The industry body said that the sectors giving more number of employment should be brought under the purview of PLI schemes. This will give a big boost to investment in these sectors.

Apart from PLI, the government should take these important steps

Apart from PLI in the upcoming budget, CII has also recommended many other such steps which should boost employment generation. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on all income groups, it is necessary to focus on employment-generating areas in the budget. It has also been recommended to increase the budget allocation of MGNREGA to help people in rural areas and to increase the income limit under section 80JJAA of the Income Tax Act.
