CBI Court Awards Four Years RI to Employee of Deputy Chief Controller of Explosives Office in a Bribery Case

The CBI Court, Chandigarh, today, i.e., 20.08.2026, has sentenced Shyam Singh Chauhan, Dealing Assistant, Office of the Deputy Chief Controller of Explosives, NAC, Manimajra, Chandigarh to Rigorous Imprisonment for Four Years with fine of Rs. 20,000, in a Bribery Case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the instant case on 11.07.2017 on allegations that the accused Dealing Assistant demanded a bribe of Rs. 8,000 from the complainant for processing his licence application.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting Rs.8,000 as illegal gratification from the complainant.
The Hon’ble Court, after the trial, convicted the accused on 18.08.2026 and sentenced him on 20.08.2026, accordingly.
